Facility & Program Impacts

May 26: The public lobbies at Auburn City Hall and the Human Resources building will reopen.

June 1: Business meeting spaces will open. Virtual meetings are still encouraged when practical.

May 20: Curbside service will be available for patrons who have materials on a hold and for those who would like to return materials.

May 26: The Auburn Public Library lobby will open for counter service. Staff will be available to retrieve books for patrons. Patrons will not be permitted to browse the collection. Computer services will be limited with time and space restrictions. Printing services will be available, but other shared office supplies will not be. Staff will sanitize each workstation after each use. Test proctoring and one-on-one technology help will not be offered, but staff will be available to offer assistance and other reference services by phone. Hours will be as follows:

• Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Sunday, 2-6 p.m.

July 6: The collection will be open for browsing. Computer services will continue to have time and space restrictions. Patrons will be encouraged to use the self-checkout, and instructions for contactless checkout will be posted.

May 20: Phone and kiosk service will be available.

June 1: Court sessions will resume with social distancing in the new Public Safety Building. Between June 1 and July 31, dockets will be limited to a maximum of 30 defendants. Continuance notices will be sent to all defendants whose court dates are between June 1 and July 31.

June 1: The Boykin Community Center will fully open. No reservations for space at the facility will be taken at this time. The weight room in the Boykin Fitness Center will remain closed, but the cardio room will be open with a limit on the number of patrons. Basketball free play will be prohibited in the Boykin Gymnasium. The outdoor basketball courts will remain closed.

Hours of operation will be as follows:

• Community Services Department: Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Boykin Gymnasium: Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Boykin Fitness Center (cardio room only): Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. (closed from noon-1 p.m. for detailed cleaning), Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon, Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

May 18: The Auburn/Opelika Skate Park and the Yarbrough Tennis Center will open. Those visiting these facilities must maintain social distancing, and no shared equipment is allowed.

May 22 @ 5 p.m.: City of Auburn athletic fields, outdoor basketball courts, Samford Tennis Courts and playgrounds will reopen.

May 23: Samford Pool will reopen for lap swim only.

May 26: The lobbies at Dean Road Recreation Center, Frank Brown Recreation Center, Harris Center, Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center will reopen.

May 30: City Market will return to Town Creek park on Saturdays from 8-11 a.m.

June 1: The ceramics studio at Dean Road Recreation Center will open for reservations only. Registration for summer programs will also begin.

Please note, the Frank Brown Recreation Center incurred damage from flooding, and the reopening has been delayed.

May 20: The Auburn Police Division lobby will open for service, but the administrative lobby will remain closed.

May 26: The Auburn Fire Stations' lobbies will open to public access. The police records service counter will reopen in the new Public Safety Building.

June 1: The Auburn Police Division lobby, including police records, will open in the new Public Safety Building.

May 20: All public lobbies and service counters will open.

May 20: Drive-through services are available for payments and applications.

May 26: Appointments will be accepted for those who need to meet in person. Offices will remain limited to employees only.

June 1: Full services will resume.

May 8 Update: Effective Monday, May 11, bars, breweries and restaurants will be allowed to open on-premise dining and operate under strict social-distancing and sanitation protocols, which are detailed in the amended Safer at Home statewide order. The amended order expires May 22

April 28 Update: An amended statewide order effective Thursday, April 30 at 5 p.m. begins the first phase of reopening Alabama's economy by allowing some businesses to open subject to occupancy requirements and social distancing and sanitation rules. The Safer at Home order expires May 15.

April 3 Update: Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Department of Public Health issued a Stay at Home order to be effected April 4 at 5 p.m. The order directs every person to stay at his or her place of residence except as necessary to perform "essential activities."
